Natalie is a mother, writer, secondary English and Arts teacher and artist living in Naarm/Melbourne. She is passionate about all types of writing, particularly fiction and creative non-fiction. She is currently working on her debut novel; Sink or Swim - a YA narrative about 16 year-old Mae Harrow who lives with Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis.
She is currently undertaking a Master of Arts - Literature and Creative Writing at Deakin University. Through this experience she has delved into crafting poetry, life writing and feminist literature studies. She is passionate about all genres of writing and through her teaching champions the power of Young Adult Literature to inform the zeitgeist.
Living with Multiple Sclerosis has made Natalie passionate about the representation of people living with disabilities, a subject she is currently working on for her thesis project. She is also invested in the representation of queer characters in pursuit of eroding the heteronormative paradigm that dominates YA fiction.
She also creates a range of artworks using photography, acrylic paint, embroidery and watercolour.
Her biggest champions are her sons, Louis (10) and Ari (6) who are also aspiring authors and just as obsessed as her with reading anything and everything.
